360° Strategic Asset Management > Setup > Object > Equipment Definition

This function is to create/view object type Equipment with specific object structure. Equipment: Tangible properties (asset) which include things such as equipment, support equipment, etc. which is used in the operations of a business. Examples of equipment include ground moving equipment, support equipment, etc. Use this form to create and maintain the equipment objects.

Equipment definition will only list/view all of the object types that are defined for type Equipment/Support Equipment. The information related to this definition is the same as the object definition, except that in this instance the information and setup is specific for the object type Equipment. (Detail reference: See Object Definition for the field explanation detail.)

The following object structure setup functions are available for the creating of object type Equipment/Support Equipment. (Grayed out buttons on the menu are not applicable for object type Equipment/ Support Equipment).

The following is an example for Equipment Definition.

The following is an example for Object Structure - Equipment.

Object structure - Setup Equipment

The following setup functionality are available for Object Structure for Equipment.

Use this form/process to create and maintain the characteristics for an object defined as EQUIPMENT/SUPPORT EQUIPMENT. Characteristics are generically defined per Object Type and based on this definition all the master characteristics will automatically be transferred on the bespoke Object.

Use this form/process to create and maintain to define the ageing parameters for the object type. Object structure ageing data is setup for a certain position in the structure.

Use this form/process to create and maintain the list of items (stock numbers) which may be used for the selected structure position for an object type EQUIPMENT. The relationship to item numbers can be of two “types”:-

·  Firstly an item can be linked as a “valid item” which indicates which part numbers (item/stock numbers) are allowed to be installed (fitted) into a specific structure position.

·  The second option is to link items as BOM (Bill of material) items. In the latter instance it can be a list of all the part numbers making up the bespoke piece of equipment that fit in to the structure position.

Related objects

Use this form/process to create and maintain the relationship between object structures for an object type EQUIPMENT. The user can with this relationship indicate which Object (Equipment) fit into a specific position on the Equipment Object Structure. This rule is validated against when specific serial number equipment is installed on a parent specific (equipment). If the specifics object type is not allocated to the parent object’s structure position, the bespoke specific will not be available for installation.

Use this form/process to create and maintain the permits for an object type definable as EQUIPMENT. Used to generically indicate which permits and certificates must be allocated / available for equipment. If it is a vehicle one for instance need a certain license to drive this vehicle. This is the generic definition of what is required. The actual permit will by permit number be allocated to a specific equipment number.

Validate data

The purpose of validating data is to ensure that the data used within the system is clean, useful and correct. If the structure type is “Rotable” then object ageing must exist and a related object must be specified. In the case where a related object has been specified and the position is not the top of the structure a check will be done to determine if the object code and structure code are linked is also linked at a higher level in the same structure. This check for loops will be done recursively for each higher level in the specific structure. Ensure that the warehouse set-up for an Human type object is correct. The following rules apply:

·  A warehouse must be specified for an Human type object.

·  Warranty codes for a supplier type warehouse and an execution type warehouse must differ.

·  Warranty codes for a quarantine type warehouse and an execution type warehouse must differ.
