360° Strategic Asset Management > Setup > Object >Object Definition > Baseline

Use this form to manage and maintain the object types that are defined, like organisation types, location types, equipment types or personnel. When the object definition and the object structure are created, then baseline the object.

The baseline process has the following business rules:

·  Define the business rules of what happens when an object structure was baselined and the structure change after object specifics were created.

Note

When the structure is base lined, the following actions/rules will apply:

  • Per structure position if the status is set to “inactive”, then all the children positions must be set to “inactive” and if a specific has been installed in this position it must be removed and the removed specifics status must be set to “inactive”. This process must be repeated for all the children positions. The record status for the removed specifics must be set to “inactive”. Thus these specifics will not be visible to the user.
  • When setting the status to “inactive” all related records for this object code and structure code through-out the system must not be visible for example if a warranty object exists and the object code structure code combination was set to inactive, it must not be displayed. When resetting to active it will be displayed again.
  • Per structure position if the status is set to “active”, all the children positions must also be set to active. The corresponding positions in all the specific of this object code will be updating accordingly.
  • If an “end use” object structure has been changed to be “active” and the user is creating a new specific but an “inactive” specific already exists, a message must be displayed to ask the user if the existing specific must be set as active and its structure updated accordingly.

When the a new structure position should be added and activated, the following rules/actions will apply:

  • If a new structure position has been added, add it to the specific structure.
  • Insert the specific characteristics, specific age and specific KPIs.
  • For an existing structure position, determine if new specific characteristics, specific age and specific KPIs must be inserted. For existing specific characteristics, specific age and specific KPIs must be updated determine if the record status must be set to “active”.
