360° Strategic Asset Management > Setup > Object > Organisation Definition

This function is to create/view object type = Organisation with specific object structure. Organisation: Can be defined as a unit of people, systematically structured and managed to meet a need or to pursue collective goals on a continuing basis. All organisations have a management structure that determines relationships between functions to carry out defined tasks.

Use this form to create and maintain the organisation objects. Organisation definition will only list/view all the object types that are defined for type = organisation. The information related to this definition is the same as the object definition, except that in this instance the information and setup is specific for the object type = Organisation. (Detail reference: See Object Definition for the field explanation detail.)

The following object structure setup functions are available for the creating of object type Organisation. (Grayed out buttons on the menu are not applicable for object type = Organisation).

Function

Description

Default Accounts

This form is used to define default accounts and to link the object and general ledger account. The account defined in this instance will be used as default for time and material events. The parameter settings must be done in such a way to accommodate local financial requirements.

Generated Numbers

Use this form/process to create the number sequences that are used as unique identifiers within 360° Strategic Asset Management. Each key element (sub-module of 360° Strategic Asset Management) has its own number sequence. Number sequences can be defined per organisation unit and 360° Strategic Asset Management will utilise the latter as defined. This enables the association of a number sequence for a specific use within a specific organisation. For example: the electrical workshop can for maintenance work orders have a different number sequence than the boiler workshop. It is possible to associate the same number sequence for different use categories across multiple organisation units.

Related objects

Use this form/process to create and maintain the relationship between object structures for an object within an ORGANISATION. It is possible for an instance to define which organisation is responsible for planning maintenance or operations for other departments within the structure of the organisation. It is further possible to indicate at which physical location a specific organisation is located at.

Organisation Permit

Use this form/process to create and maintain the permits for an object within an ORGANISATION. The permit is then linked to the object to indicate the type of permit needed for the object type. (For example: A mine for instance needs a mining permit, or a maintenance organisation a certain certification to work on certain types of equipment, etc.)

Warehouse

This form is used to define which warehouse is doing execution, supplying or quarantine for which organisation. Warehouses or plants can be created here, but only if "AX Integration" is off. When "AX Integration" is on, warehouses are created in the Stock and Warehouse Management Module and will update 360° Strategic Asset Management Warehouse table with an automatic service script.

Validate data

The purpose of validating data is to ensure that the data used within the system is clean, useful and correct. If the structure type is “Rotable” then object ageing must exist and a related object must be specified. In the case where a related object has been specified and the position is not the top of the structure a check will be done to determine if the object code and structure code are linked is also linked at a higher level in the same structure. This check for loops will be done recursively for each higher level in the specific structure. Ensure that the warehouse set-up for an organisation type object is correct. The following rules apply:

·  A warehouse must be specified for an organisation type object.

·  Warranty codes for a supplier type warehouse and an execution type warehouse must differ.

·  Warranty codes for a quarantine type warehouse and an execution type warehouse must differ.
