This refers to the management of the object departments, locations, facilities and, in some cases, business units. By managing objects across the facility, organisations can improve utilisation and performance, reduce capital costs, reduce object-related operating costs, extend object life and subsequently improve ROA (return on assets). Objects cover such things as the design, construction, commissioning, operations, maintenance and decommissioning/ replacement of plant, equipment and facilities.

Object forms and usage of forms

The following are main functionalities in the setup module.

Use this form to create and maintain a list of object classes that are associated with an object. This classification is link to an object type.

Object definition

Use this form to create and maintain a list of objects. Object definition will list all of the object types that are defined, like organisation types, location types, equipment types or personnel.

Organisation definition

This function is to create/view object type Organisation with specific object structure. Organisation: Can be defined as a unit of people, systematically structured and managed to meet a need or to pursue collective goals on a continuing basis. All organisations have a management structure that determines relationships between functions to carry out defined tasks.

Use this form to create and maintain the organisation objects. Organisation definition will only list/view all of the object types that are defined for type organisation. The information related to this definition is the same as the object definition, except that in this instance the information and set up is specific for the object type Organisation.

Building, facility and plant definition

This function is to create/view object types Building, Facility or Plant with specific object structure. Building or Facility: General: Permanent, semi-permanent, or temporary commercial or industrial property such as a building, facility, or structure, built, established, or installed for the performance of one or more specific activities or functions. Plant:A building capable of manufacturing goods of all sizes in large quantities to be sold by a business. Plants can be considered either a long term asset if owned by the organisation, or both a long term liability if leased or rented.

Use this form to create and maintain the objects of type = Building, Facility or Plant. This definition will only list/view all of the object types that are defined for types = building, facility or plant. The information related to this definition is the same as the object definition, except that in this instance the information and set up is specific for the above mention object types.

Location definition

This function is to create/view object type Location with specific object structure. Location: The geographical place/position (such as an airport, seaport, container freight station, terminal, warehouse) that provides permanent facilities for movement of goods (such as customs, storage, and other support services) or is designated for a stated purpose. Use this form to create and maintain the location objects. Location definition will only list/view all of the object types that are defined for type Location. The information related to this definition is the same as the object definition, except that in this instance the information and set up is specific for the object type Location.

Personnel definition

This function is to create/view object type human with specific object structure. Human Capital: In an organisational context human capital refers to the collective value of the organisation’s intellectual capital (competencies, knowledge, skills, health). Use this form to create and maintain the human objects. Personnel definition will only list/view all of the object types that are defined for type human. The information related to this definition is the same as the object definition, except that in this instance the information and set up is specific for the object type Human.

Equipment definition

This function is to create/view object type Equipment with specific object structure. Equipment: Tangible properties (asset) which include things such as equipment, support equipment, etc. which is used in the operations of a business. Examples of equipment include ground moving equipment, support equipment, etc. Use this form to create and maintain the equipment objects.

Transport definition

This function is to create/view object type Transport with specific object structure. Transport: Tangible properties (asset) which include things such as vehicles, trucks, aircrafts, water crafts, etc. which is used in the operations of a business. Use this form to create and maintain the transport objects.

Object type condition setup

Use this form to create and maintain object type condition adjustment percentages to be used for calculation of costing values.

Object type usage adjustment

Use this form to create and maintain object type usage condition adjustment percentages to be used for calculation of costing values.

This function is used to create and maintain object structure.

Object Structure

Children

This function is used to create the sub structure of the object. (Children)

Setup

Characteristics

Use this form/process to create and maintain the characteristic structures for an object type.

Ageing

Use this form/process to create and maintain to define the ageing parameters for the object type. Object structure ageing data is set up for a certain position in the structure.

Area size

Use this form/process to create and maintain to define the area size of a structure. This will be used for objects types = building, facility that are created for renting purposes.

Item

This form is used to define valid Item Numbers and Supplier Part Numbers per Object Type. An Object Type can be associated with multiple Item Numbers, but an Item Number can only ‘belong’ to a single Object Group

Default Accounts

This form is used to define default accounts and to link the object and general ledger account. The account defined in this instance will be used as default for time and material events.

Structure Status impact

This form is used to define what structure position will be impacted when this status change.

Generated Numbers

Use this form/process to create the number sequences that are used as unique identifiers within eXsam. Each key element (sub-module of eXsam) has its own number sequence. Number sequences can be defined per organisation unit and eXsam will utilise the latter as defined.

Related objects

Use this form/process to create and maintain the relationship between object structures for an object type and this object type will create or update structures for related object types defined for specific positions in the structure.

Permit

Use this form/process to create and maintain the permits for an object type.

Organisation Permit

Use this form/process to create and maintain the organisational permits/certificates for an object type.

Warehouse

This form is used to link which warehouse (defined as a warehouse which can perform maintenance) is doing execution for which organisation. This setup provides the default SUPPLY and EXECUTION WAREHOUSES which will be used for the stock movement for work orders. It is import to do this setup and ensure when AX integration is ON that the warehouses are correctly set up in the Stock and Warehouse Management Module of standard AX.

This function is used to load images of objects.

Object structure KPI

This form is used to define the set ups of KPI's for the object structure.

Codification

This function is used to to add and maintain the codification codes of external/specific identity codes to objects.

This is used to add the structure position factor for calculating the component costing.

Price Guide

The form is used to define the pricing guide detail for an object.

Attachments

The form is used to add/link attachments for an object.

Functions

Specific

This is used to create/maintain a specific asset for the selected object.

Event objects

This is used to create/maintain event objects for the selected object.

Warranty objects

This is used to create/maintain a warranty objects for the selected object.

This function is used to create and maintain object structure baseline/un-baseline management.
